Vet Inspection for Ventura Storm

Wednesday, 25th October 2017

Racing.com reports that Melbourne Cup hopeful Ventura Storm will undergo a vet examination after he was found to be suffering from a bruised heel. The Lindsay Park-trained Ventura Storm (Zoffany-Sarawati, by Haafhd) looked to be on track for the Melbourne Cup after finishing runner-up to Winx in the Gr1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on 7 October. However, the Irish-bred stayer was disappointing when finishing 13th of 17 in last weekend's traditional Melbourne Cup lead-up, the Gr1 Caulfield Cup (2400m). Ventura Storm, who was a winner of the Gr1 Gran Premio del Jockey Club in Italy and second in the Gr1 English St Leger prior to arriving in Australia, is currently rated a $26 chance with TAB for Australia's most famous race.
