Livamol Success Puts Riccarton in Doubt

Tuesday, 24th October 2017

Guy Lowry and Grant Cullen are rethinking future plans for Wait A Sec (Postponed-Security, by Grosvenor) following his surprise win in Sunday's Gr1 Livamol Classic (2040m) at Hastings, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Hastings trainers had been keen on a tilt at the Gr3 New Zealand Cup (3200m), but victory in their home town weight-for-age feature has now made the trip to Riccarton unlikely. "He hasn't got much to prove and we'll make a decision in the next few days," Lowry said. "He's pulled up well and he's a happy horse. The Auckland Cup at set weights and penalties looks a better race for him." The Gr1 Auckland Cup (3200m) is scheduled to be run at Ellerslie in March.
