Part of the Grand Slam of Australian racing, the time-honoured Caulfield Cup boasts an honour roll that includes some of the greatest names of the Australian turf including Rising Fast (1954/55), Tulloch (1957), Tobin Bronze (1967), Ming Dynasty (1977/80), Tristarc (1985), Let's Elope (1991), Mannerism (1992), Doriemus (1995), Might And Power (1997), Ethereal (2001), and Northerly (2002). This year, the $4.60 TAB fixed odds favourite is the Irish stayer Johannes Vermeer following his eye-catching second in last weekend's Gr1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m).
