Return of Group One Performer Imminent
Devise enjoyed a prosperous 3YO season and she is impressing trainer Shaune Ritchie as she closes in on a return to racing, reports NZ Racing Desk. The daughter of Darci Brahma is a two-time winner and finished runner-up to NZ Horse of the Year Bonneval in last season's New Zealand Oaks (2400m). "She looks terrific and she'll trial at the end of the month and she should be back at the races in November," Ritchie said. "She's come back much stronger and her form looks good." The half-sister to the multiple stakes winner Zurella was placed last term behind Bonneval in the Gr2 Sir Tristram Fillies' Classic (2000m) and the Gr3 Lowland Stakes (2100m). Both Devise and Zurella are out of the Volksraad mare Doneze Girl, a granddaughter of Shadea, dam of champion racehorse and stallion Lonhro. This is also the family of champion sprinter Lankan Rupee, Victoria Derby winning stallion Grosvenor, and Australian Oaks winner Mahaya.
