Enable To Stay in Training

Wednesday, 11th October 2017

Outstanding filly Enable (Nathaniel-Concentric, by Sadlers Wells) will stay in training next season with a tilt at a second Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe high on her agenda, reports Racing Post. Owner Khalid Abdullah of Juddmonte Farms confirmed that Enable, just like Frankel, would race on at four, giving racing purists something to relish next year. Trainer John Gosden will now be given the opportunity of adding to Enable's already remarkable record of 5 Group One victories, namely the Arc, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, English, Irish & Yorkshire Oaks. Arguably Enable's highest priority will be emulating Treve by winning two Arcs, a feat that would make her the eighth horse in history to win Europe's weight-for-age championship twice. However, another, even more tantalising prospect, is a clash with champion Australian mare Winx. Trainer Chris Waller has signalled that Winx's connections would like to travel with her to Europe in 2018, setting the scene for a potentially epic contest with the 3-year younger Enable. Enable's regular rider Frankie Dettori said: "Meeting Winx would be mouth- watering. John, Prince Khalid and Teddy [Grimthorpe] will discuss a plan after the New Year. As they've said, the long-term target is to try to defend her crown in the Arc at Longchamp."
