Volkstok'n'barrell Future Uncertain
The abandonment of Saturday's Gr1 Livamol Classic at Hastings has cast a cloud over the immediate future of multiple Group One winning galloper Volkstok'n'barrell (Tavistock-Volkster, by Volksraad), reports NZ Racing Desk. "I was going to send him to Sydney to race next weekend, but the flight is going through Christchurch which makes it even longer," said Donna Logan, who trains the 5YO in partnership with Chris Gibbs. "That wouldn't be ideal for him after going down to Hastings and back. We're going to wait and see if the Livamol is going to be run in a fortnight's time and, if it is, we'll go there." Logan added: "It's very frustrating, but everyone is in the same boat and there's nothing that can be done about it." Hawke's Bay Racing in conjunction with New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing are currently discussing the possible rescheduling of the Livamol. Volkstok'n'barrell would have been chasing his fifth Group One success in the Livamol following elite wins in the Rosehill Guineas, Maori Stakes, New Zealand Stakes, and Herbie Dyke Stakes.
