Filly Proves Popular on Debut

Tuesday, 10th October 2017

Beautifully bred filly She's Popular is likely to be given the opportunity to secure some valuable black-type during the spring after making a stylish winning debut at Kilmore yesterday. Prepared by David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, the New Zealand-bred 3YO looked a class above her rivals when scoring a dominant front-running victory in the 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate over 1100 metres. A homebred for Waikato Stud, She's Popular is by Waikato's resident champion New Zealand sire Savabeel out of the well-related It Girl, herself a full sister to 4-time Gr1 winning sire Sacred Falls (O'Reilly-Iguazu's Girl, by Redoute's Choice). This is also the family of Gr3 winner Splashing Out, 8-time stakes winning mare Lady Iguazu (2nd dam), Victoria Derby winner Omnicorp, Gr2 Sandown Cup winner Pharostan, and Gr2 winner Crimson, dam of stakes winners Abidewithme and Miss Scarlatti. Stable representative Russell Treloar said the Lindsay Park team had always held She's Popular in high regard. "She's a very nice filly who has shown us plenty at home," Treloar told racing.com. "Dave has a race picked out for her during Melbourne Cup week."
