Wair Affair Returning Home

Thursday, 5th October 2017

Former Singapore Horse of the Year War Affair ((O'Reilly-Kristique, by Kris S) will return to his birthplace of New Zealand for a six-month spell while connections consider his future, reports NZ Racing Desk. Trainer Bruce Marsh and his owners, the Ong family, hope the greener pastures and fresher air can remedy his well-documented wind issues. The 7YO was last seen in competition in the Jumbo Jet Trophy (1400m) at Kranji racecourse on 10 September, where he finished sixth to fellow New Zealand-bred Countofmontecristo. "He will be going to New Zealand at a place which is still undecided. He will rest and play there for five to six months," Marsh said. "We will monitor his progress during that time. The plan is to race him back here [in New Zealand] if he gets better." Marsh added: "Even when he lost at his recent races, he still tried so hard, which goes to show what a great horse he is to overcome all these obstacles and still perform at the highest level." War Affair is expected to arrive in New Zealand at the end of October.
