VIC Campaign Up In Air for Scales Of Justice
Star West Australian galloper Scales Of Justice may return home after being galloped on in last Saturday's Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield, reports the West Australian. Trainer Lindsey Smith said Scales Of Justice was lame in his off hind leg after finishing 7th behind Santa Ana Lane in the 1400m feature. Smith and managing owner Chris Wells will decide in the next 24 hours whether the 5YO remains in Melbourne for the Gr1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) on Saturday week, or returns home to prepare for a defence of his title in the Gr1 Railway Stakes later in the year. "He's got some bruising there. We'll see how he goes on Wednesday and Thursday and decide whether we continue on or bring him back for the Railway and Kingston Town," Wells said. "Darren [Weir] told Lindsey not to get too despondent, but the horse has to be right to go to the Toorak."
