First Runner For Zoustar Aims To Shine

Thursday, 5th October 2017

The McEvoy stable will also be in the metaphorical spotlight at Flemington this Saturday where it will have the privilege of opening the sire account for outstanding sprinter and now Woodside Park / Widden Stud sire Zoustar with promising 2YO filly Sunlight (ex Solar Charged by Charge Forward). Bred by Widden Stud, the filly was a comprehensive 2 length Cranbourne trial winner on September 4. Zoustar, a dual Gr1 winner of the Coolmore Stud Stakes and Golden Rose will be aiming to continue the incredible sire legacy set by his sire Northern Meteor before his unfortunate death due to a colic attack in July 2013. Sunlight will line up in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes in a hot field of 11 debuting speedsters. She will certainly be aided by her pedigree, however, which includes Gr3 Kindergarten Stakes winning dam Solar Charged (dam of Gr3 Kindergarten Stakes 3rd Sheika). Her precocious family also includes Listed winning Sir Dapper mare Aretha and her equally fast son Sir Linford. Sunlight was a $300,000 purchase from the Widden Stud Draft at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
