Talented Lisdoonvarna Salutes On Aus Debut
Following her recent acquisition by Australian owner-trainers Amanda Turner and Mauro Poletti, ex New Zealand filly Lisdoonvara has provided an immediate financial return and the promise of more wins around the immediate corner when striding clear late to win the Robert Oatley Wines Maiden (1100m) at Nowra yesterday. As reported by theinformant.co.nz, Curraghmore's Gordon Cunningham and Hallmark Stud originally bred and raced the precocious daughter of Super Easy where she raced only once for the training partnership of Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs for a strong third placing on May 17over 1000m, where she exhibited considerable upside. Gibbs commented on the recent sale, "That was always on the cards, they got a good offer and she's headed off overseas. We've lost a few smart horses lately, and she was one we would have been very happy to keep, but that's the nature of the business. They (Cunningham and Hallmark) produce a lot of nice young horses and they've said they'll give us some others to train." Lisdoonvara's victory followed a recent 810m trial win at Warwick Farm. She is from Straight Strike mare Axaslass and hails from the family of one of the leading 3YO's in NZ in 1989 - 1990 in Reno Belle.
