At Kranji racecourse in Singapore, Cambridge Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Tavistock (Montjeu-Upstage, by Quest For Fame) celebrated an elite race success when 5YO New Zealand-bred gelding Infantry (Tavistock-The Nightingale, by Stravinsky) won the first Leg of the Singapore Triple Crown series – the S$700,000 Sgp-Gr1 Kranji Mile (1600m) - defeating Countofmontecristo & Debt Collector. Bred by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan, Infantry was offered by Cambridge Stud at the 2013 NZB National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale, where he was purchased by Ms A Rutten for just $7,000. Infantry advanced his record to 9 wins (including the Sgp-Gr1 Singapore Derby, Listed Moonbeam Vase & Listed Merlion Trophy) and 8 placings (including the Sgp-Gr1 Patron's Bowl) from 21 starts. Karaka graduate Infantry became the first horse to claim the Singapore Derby-Kranji Mile double since the Laurie Laxon-trained Top Spin in 2008. The second Leg of the Singapore Triple Crown series is the Gr1 Raffles Cup (1800m) on 22 October while the grand final is the Gr1 Singapore Gold Cup (2200m) on 12 November. No horse has ever won the Triple Crown.
