At Caulfield in Melbourne, Woodside Park's Gr2-winning stallion Written Tycoon (Iglesias-Party Miss, by Kenmare) added a Group race success when 3YO brown filly Booker (Written Tycoon-Noondie, by Flying Spur) led throughout and held off the late challenge of her rivals in the $200,000 Gr2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) for 3YO fillies, defeating Shoals & Catchy. A $230,000 purchase at the 2016 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Mill Park Stud, Booker improved her record to 2 wins and 3 placings (including the Gr2 Danehill Stakes) from 5 starts for $279,000 in earnings. Co-trainer Matthew Ellerton said Booker was likely to make her next appearance in the $500,000 Gr1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on 14 October. "I'll let the dust settle and see what we do," Ellerton told racing.com. "Obviously she probably goes to the Thousand Guineas. But we also have the option of freshening her up for the Coolmore [Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes over 1200m at Flemington] on Derby day."
