Spright to Need Snitzel Run

Friday, 29th September 2017

Trainer Garry Frazer expects smart sprinting mare Spright to derive plenty of improvement from her first-up run in tomorrow's Snitzel Sprint (1200m) at Royal Randwick. Spright (Hinchinbrook-Dashoff, by Dash for Cash) stamped herself as a filly of some quality when winning the Gr3 VRC Crown Resorts Plate (1100m) at Flemington on Oaks day last year, but failed to build upon that promise when failing to win a race in the autumn. However, Frazer expects the 4YO to benefit from a longer than usual winter spell and has earmarked the Gr3 The Nivison (1200m) at Randwick on 21 October as a primary spring target. "I gave her a full six weeks out and she did unbelievably in her spell so she will probably be a bit soft on Saturday,'' Frazer told racingnsw.com.au. "While she is a bit soft I expect her to run well. She's drawn probably not ideally for a horse like her in one but Jay Ford will have to make his own luck from there.''
