Start Wondering to Target Top Sprints

Wednesday, 27th September 2017

Star Kiwi sprinter Start Wondering (Eighth Wonder-Roseanbar, by Al Akbar) is once again being prepared for a campaign aimed New Zealand's major summer sprints, reports NZ Racing Desk. The 7YO, who was last seen finishing down the track in the Gr1 Kingsford-Smith Cup in Brisbane in May, had a stellar 2016 summer campaign when winning the Gr1 Railway Stakes & Gr1 Waikato Sprint, as well as finishing runner-up in the Gr1 Telegraph Handicap. Evan Rayner, who prepares Star Wondering with his daughter J. J. from their Wanganui base, said those three feature events would again be the focus of the upcoming campaign. "He's been back in work a bit over four weeks and he had his first quiet run up the straight last week. He looks great and we're very happy with him," he said. Rayner said Start Wondering was likely to kick off his campaign in the Listed Legacy Lodge Sprint (1200m) at Te Rapa in November.
