McEvoy Has Faith in Egg Tart

Wednesday, 27th September 2017

Meanwhile, Kerrin McEvoy is bullish about the winning prospects of Egg Tart should she overcome an eye problem in time to run in Saturday's $1 million Gr1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Royal Randwick. McEvoy was aboard Egg Tart when she announced herself as one of the most exciting horses in Australia courtesy of brilliant wins in the Gr1 Queensland Oaks and Gr1 Australasian Oaks earlier this year. "She is pretty easy to ride and push button. She can be midfield from there and she has a good turn of foot when you ask her," McEvoy told racingnsw.com.au. "Hopefully she can be slicing through them when she needs to be. Her finishing effort was good [when a first-up second in the Gr2 Theo Marks] and Deploy was running pretty swift time on a firm track. This is a better trip for her and she is a smart mare. She is playing against the big boys now so she has to bring her A-game but I'm looking forward to riding her that's for sure."
