Houtzen Everest Start on the Line
Houtzen's performance in the Gr3 Scarborough Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night will determine if she presses on to next month's The Everest in Sydney, reports racing.com. The champion Queensland filly will be having the second start of her 3YO campaign after resuming with a moderate third behind Russian Revolution in the Gr2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on 9 September. "We'll get a good guide with her on Friday and see what sort of figure she returns and then work out whether we run in the Everest or not," trainer Toby Edmonds said. "If she didn't rate really well on Friday night there's a big chance we'd keep her here [Melbourne] for another three-year-old race." Edmonds added: "There's no excuses at all. It's time to turn on the tap now and if she's not up to it then she's not up to it." Should she line up, Houtzen will represent Aquis Farm in the inaugural running of the world's richest turf race, the $10 million The Everest (1200m), at Royal Randwick on 14 October.
