Smart Debut Win for More Than Ready Colt

Thursday, 21st September 2017

Well-bred 3YO colt Star Of Africa signalled a bright future awaits when making a winning debut in the All Too Hard@Vinery Plate (1100m) at Warwick Farm yesterday. Prepared by Peter & Paul Snowden, Star Of Africa races in the distinctive red and yellow starred silks of the China Horse Club which purchased him in partnership with the US-based WinStar Farm for $300,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Kia-Ora Stud. Other syndicate members include Newgate Farm and Aquis Farm, and Kia Ora which retained an interest. By Vinery shuttler More Than Ready, Star Of Africa is out of the stakes placed mare Rock Of Fortune (Fastnet Rock), a half-sister to stakes winner Chic Choice (Redoute's Choice). Star Of Africa's third dam is the stakes-placed Bletchingly mare Extradite who has produced Gr3 winning sprinter Facile and Gr2 winner Twiglet, dam of Gr1-winning sire Easy Rocking, champion Hong Kong sprinter Fairy King Prawn, and multiple Listed winner Crevette (herself the dam of dual Gr1 winning mare Cosmic Endeavour). Paul Snowden said Star Of Africa would be aimed at the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas in January. "We thought a fair bit of this horse. He was a little bit unlucky not to get to the races last preparation," Snowden told Sky Racing. "He's a Magic Millions horse and that's definitely a target for him if he's good enough.”
