Belle du Nord on Classic Path

Thursday, 21st September 2017

Talented Kiwi filly Belle du Nord (Reliable Man-Bankside Belle, by Volksraad) remains on course for main spring target the Gr1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas despite falling behind in her work schedule, reports NZ Racing Desk. "She's very well, but we haven't been able to get as much work into her as we might have liked," said Emma-Lee Browne, who prepares the 3YO with husband David. "Like everyone else, we're hoping the tracks improve, but at this stage we're happy with her and her main aim is Riccarton." Runner-up behind champion 2YO Melody Belle in the Gr1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes in April, Belle Du Nord resumed with an encouraging second over 1100m at Taupo last month. She will continue her classic campaign in Saturday's Gr3 Hawke's Bay Breeders' Gold Trail Stakes at Hastings.
