Arrogate Pleases Baffert

Wednesday, 20th September 2017

Champion US racehorse Arrogate has stepped out for his first official workout since his surprise loss in the Gr1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar on 19 August, reports Blood Horse. Trainer Bob Baffert said the world's best racehorse showed him positive signs that he is ready for his upcoming assignment in the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic at Del Mar on 4 November. The Eclipse Award winning 4YO worked over a half-mile in :49 3/5 before striding out to 1000 metres in 1:02 3/5 at Santa Anita Park on Monday. "He went really nice. I just wanted a nice, easy half-mile," Baffert said. "Bejarano [exercise rider Rafael Bejarano] worked him for me, he knows the horse really well. He said he felt great under him, and went nice and easy." Baffert added: "He didn't work really fast, but I just don't want to do that to him. I'm really happy where he's at right now." The Juddmonte Farms-owned Arrogate (Unbridled's Song-Bubbler, by Distorted Humor) has hitherto won 7 of his 10 starts for career earnings of US$17,298,514 making him the richest North American thoroughbred of all time.
