Everest On Agenda for Malaguerra
The Gelagotis stable have reminded slot holders that dual Gr1-winning sprinter Malaguerra (Magnus-Tennessee Morn, by Bletchingly) is available for the inaugural $10 million The Everest (1200m) to be run at Royal Randwick on 14 October. Stable representative Manny Gelagotis said the 6YO, who hasn’t raced since finishing 16th in the Gr1 Goodwood behind Vega Magic in May, is likely to open his spring campaign in the Gr1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at Mooney Valley on 29 September. "He's a chance to run in the Moir first-up. We'll see how he pulls up from the trial," Gelagotis said. "After that, could be into the Manikato. And we're still open for The Everest, it just depends on how people want to perceive the horse.” He added: “I'm really surprised we haven't received many calls, but we had indicated that might not have been on the cards.” There are four remaining slots for The Everest with Coolmore Stud, Chris Waller, Damion Flower and Max Whitby yet to yet to confirm a runner.
