Arc Possible for Winter

Tuesday, 19th September 2017

Aidan O’Brien says Coolmore are giving strong consideration to running dual classic winner Winter (Galileo-Laddies Poker Two, by Choisir) in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, reports Racing Post. A 4-time Gr1 winner of the English & Irish 1000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes, and Nassau Stakes, Winter was denied a fifth top-flight success when edged out for second by stable-mate Hydrangea in the Gr1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown last start. “The Arc is definitely something we're thinking about for Winter. I'm not saying it's definite she'll run in it but it’s certainly possible and under strong consideration,” said O’Brien. “To be honest, I was delighted with the way she ran at Leopardstown and she'll come on for that.” He added: “The trip is obviously something of an unknown in the Arc and you couldn't be sure she would stay. There's speed on her dam's side but we all know the stamina that Galileo inputs, so it's possible she will."
