Mosheen Daughter Places in Japan
Primo Scene, the second foal to race of former top-class Australian mare Mosheen (Fastnet Rock), finished an encouraging second on debut in a 1600 metre 2YO fillies Newcomer race at Nakayama racecourse in Japan on Sunday, reports breednet. By superstar Japanese stallion Deep Impact, Primo Scene was unable to hold off the powerful finish of Tosen Bless who came from last to win by 1.25 lengths. Mosheen, who hails from the outstanding female family of champion Australian racehorse Might And Power, won 4 races at group One level, namely the VRC Oaks, Australian Guineas, Randwick Guineas and Vinery Stud Stakes. Trained by Robert Smerdon, Mosheen was owned by the late Phil Sly who forged a successful partnership with Katsumi Yoshida, owner of Northern Farm in Japan. Mosheen was twice mated with Yoshida's champion sire Deep Impact with her other named filly, Calico, yet to win in five starts to date. Mosheen also has an unnamed yearling filly by former world champion sprinter and 2013 Japanese Horse of the Year, Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha).
