Chopin's Fantaisie to Bounce Back

Friday, 15th September 2017

Connections are hoping that a rise in trip to a mile can help exciting prospect Chopin's Fantaisie (Pins-Golden Gamble, by Oregon) return to winning ways at Kranji in Singapore on Sunday, reports the Singapore Turf Club. The New Zealand-bred 4YO stamped himself as an emerging star when winning is first four starts in his adopted homeland before suffering the only loss of his brief career in a Class 3 event over 1400m on 28 August. On that occasion the son of Pins had genuine excuses, getting too far out of his ground but still running on strongly against a perceived leaders track bias. "He will have to win well this Sunday. We are eventually looking at the Gold Cup for him, but that race will dictate where we go from here," said assistant-trainer Michael White. "It's unlikely he will go to the Kranji Mile but the Raffles Cup and the Gold Cup are options we are looking at for him." Purchased for $150,000 by his trainer Michael Clements at the 2015 NZB Premier Yearling Sale, Chopin's Fantaisie is a half-brother to three-time Gr1 winner and former Hong Kong champion racehorse Ambitious Dragon.
