Hawke's Bay Track Update

Wednesday, 13th September 2017

The following track update was provided for Hawke's Bay yesterday ahead of Saturday week's second leg of the Triple Crown series – the Gr1 Windsor Park Plate (1600m) at Hastings: 'With just 3mm of rain and strong westerly winds since Tarzino Trophy day the Hastings track has dried very quickly. After galloping a horse this morning on the course proper and doing a penetrometer reading the track is rated a Good3. With little or no rain forecast in the next 7 days a decision has been made to apply 12 mm of irrigation today, Tuesday September 12. The decision to irrigate early has been taken in the interests of providing the best possible surface for Windsor Park Plate day on Saturday September 23.'
