Top NZ Colt Sidelined

Tuesday, 12th September 2017

Injury will force stakes winning New Zealand colt Qiji Phoenix (Not a Single Doubt -No Mistaking, by Testa Rossa) to miss his entire 3YO season, reports NZ Racing Desk. Unbeaten in three starts in New Zealand for Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs, including a dominant victory in the Listed Champagne Stakes at Ellerslie, Qiji Phoenix was transferred to the Sydney stable of champion trainer Chris Waller. Qiji Phoenix was set to resume in the Gr2 Run To The Rose (1200m) last weekend but was found to have a chip in a fetlock late last week. Raced by Chinese businessman Fudong Niu, the colt is also part-owned by Aquis Farm.
