Ribchester Wins Gr1 Prix du Moulin
At Chantilly racecourse in France on Sunday, Darley and Haunui Farm shuttler Iffraaj (Zafonic-Pastorale, by Nureyev) celebrated an elite race success when 4YO Irish-bred entire Ribchester (Iffraaj-Mujarah, by Marju) consolidated his position as Europe's premier miler with a 0.75 length win for trainer Richard Fahey in the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (8 furlongs) for 3YO+, defeating Taareef & Massaat. In claiming his fourth top-flight victory, the Godolphin-owned Ribchester improved his record to 6 wins (including the Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes, Gr1 Lockinge Stakes, Gr1 Prix Jacques le Marois, Gr3 Jersey Stakes & Gr2 Mill Reef Stakes) and 7 placings (including the Gr1 Sussex Stakes & Gr1 English 2,000 Guineas) from 14 starts for £2,418,438 in earnings. "It is just nice to see Ribchester win again. I was very happy with the victory," trainer Richard Fahey said. "He was hardly blowing afterwards and has got a lot of ability. You never feel the tank is empty - he is a very tough horse." Fahey added: "We will be aiming him towards the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot [Gr1 on 21 October] and then consider the Breeders' Cup Mile [Gr1 at Del Mar on 4 November] in California two weeks after that."
