At Rosehill Gardens in Sydney, Coolmore's former Gr1-winning Champion Australian Sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) added a Group success when highly progressive 4YO gelding Deploy (Fastnet Rock-Crimson Reign, by Red Ransom) continued his ascension up the Sydney sprinting ranks with a record-breaking win in the $200,000 Gr2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) for 3YO+, defeating Egg Tart & Euro Angel. Deploy's performance in setting a new 1300m track record of 1:14.92 (final 600 of 33.57) didn't surprise trainer Gerald Ryan. "I've always had a big opinion of him but he just keeps flying under the radar," Ryan told Sky Racing. "He's gone to another level and has been bouncing around the stable. He is just low flying." The inaugural $10 million The Everest (1200m) at Royal Randwick on 14 October remains on the agenda for Deploy. Out of Torryburn Stud's Group winning mare Crimson Reign, who collected almost $1 million on the track, Deploy was sold to Segenhoe Stud for $450,000 at the 2014 Inglis Easter Sale. Saturday's win improved his record to 8 wins (including the Gr2 Moreton Cup & Gr3 Show County Handicap) and 6 placings (including the Listed Ortensia Stakes) from 16 starts for $597,985 in earnings.
