Team Snowden Plotting A Russian Revolution In Melbourne
The astute Team Snowden is hoping to make a splash in the Gr2 McEwan Stakes at Moonee Valley tomorrow as it angles to publicize its new satellite base at Flemington with a victory by star Snitzel 4YO Russian Revolution, reports aapmegaform.com.au. Paul Snowden acknowledged that he and his father Peter had made the strategic decision to capitalize on the lucrative Victoria prizemoney levels, bolstered further by VOBIS, by investing in 30 boxes at Flemington. The addition of a permanent Melbourne base also mirrors the set-up employed by the father and son team when Peter was head trainer for Godolphin. Having had two trials at Randwick with serious form references around Champagne Cuddles and last weekend's Gr3 Concorde Stakes winner Redzel, Russian Revolution looks ominously placed to recapture the form that saw him take the Gr1 The Galaxy mid-March. Paul Snowden commented on the new Flemington arm of the business and Russian Revolution's weekend prospects: "It's good for an option down here (Melbourne) but when you've got the stakes up there plus the BOBS it's better to leave those horses there. We've got a few VOBIS horses and it's important that we get some Victorian clients because this is not a short term thing, we're locked in and want to make it work. [Russian Revolution] has always been a special horse and full credit to the owners for racing him on. He's in his four-year-old year and I believe he's still got more to offer at Gr1 level and that starts on Saturday."
