Bollinger Son Catches The Eye On Debut
In the same race where Wattergeist broke his maiden at Sandown yesterday (see above), a blue-blooded 3YO colt ran right up to his pedigree with the suggestion of exciting days ahead for connections. Drifting out to $16 at the jump, the Vinery Stud-campaigned Villermont is entitled to have his share of ability. By Vinery's All Too Hard, who earlier in the day was responsible for Group race-bound undefeated winner Superhard, Villermont is out of exquisitely bred and performed mare Bollinger. The daughter of Champion Australian 2YO and Golden Slipper heroine Bint Marscay (see below) won the Gr1 Coolmore Classic and is a half-sister to multiple Gr1-performed Mannington and Gr1 winner Benicio. Six of Bolllinger's seven foals to race are winners, including multiple US Graded Stakes winner Fresian Fire. Villermont looks likely to add to that record after being forced to check a few times and cut back through traffic before coming with a persistent run that suggests he's going to be effective at a mile and beyond.
