Sporting Chance Wins US Gr1 Hopeful Stakes

Wednesday, 6th September 2017

At Saratoga in the US, 2YO US-bred colt Sporting Chance (Tiznow-Winning Ride, by Candy Ride) veered stand-side suddenly in the straight, almost dislodging jockey Luis Saez, before recovering to still win by a neck for legendary trainer D. Wayne Lukas in the 113th running of the US$350,000 Gr1 Hopeful Stakes (7 furlongs) for 2YOs, over fellow juvenile colts Free Drop Billy (Union Rags – Trensa, by Giant's Causeway) & Givemeaminit (Star Guitar-Powerful Nation, by Turkoman). The victory marked the eighth win in the race for Lukas, the last three for clients Robert and William Mack. Sporting Chance, a US$575,000 Keeneland September pinhook, took his record to 2 wins & 1 placing from 3 starts for US$269,140 earnings.
