Shinn Booked for Stardom
Blake Shinn will ride former Japanese galloper Tosen Stardom (Deep Impact) in Saturday's $1 million Gr1 New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield. The Sydney-based jockey is taking advantage of a quiet weekend in the Harbour City to partner the Darren Weir-trained 7YO who will be having the second run of his campaign after a first-up fifth behind Hartnell in the Gr2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) on 19 August. "It's a bit of a juggling act but there are no Group One's in Sydney this week and Tosen Stardom's a top horse and worth coming down for," Shinn told racing.com. "He's obviously proven that he's up to a very high level and it's nice to be heading down from Sydney. It's what I want to be doing - targeting these big Group One's." Shinn is standing in for Tosen Stardom's regular rider Ben Allen who was suspended for careless riding last week.
