At Moonee Valley in Melbourne, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit-Cannarelle, by Canny Lad) added a black-type success when 3YO bay colt Overshare (I Am Invincible-Savannah's Choice, by Redoute's Choice) opened his stakes account with a dashing front-running win in the $120,000 Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) for 3YO colts & geldings, defeating Bandipur & Sunquest. A $320,000 purchase by Spendthrift Australia at the 2016 Ingis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Victoria Park, improved his record to 2 wins from 5 starts for $123,700 in earnings. Co-trainer Wayne Hawkes said connections will consider running Overshare in the $1 million Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on 23 September. The magnificently related Overshare is out of the Gr3-placed mare Savannah's Choice, a half-sister to Japanese Oaks and American Oaks winner Cesario (Speed Week). Cesario, in turn, is the dam of 2014 Japan Cup winner Epiphaneia & Gr1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes winner Leontes.
