Lady Eli To Be Sold at Keeneland November Sale
Champion US mare Lady Eli is set to be offered at this year’s Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, reports Blood Horse. The 5YO, who posted the fifth Gr1 win of her brilliant career when landing the Diana Stakes at Saratoga three weeks ago, will be consigned as part of the Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency draft. "It is an honor and a privilege to consign a mare of the caliber of Lady Eli," said Hill 'n' Dale president John Sikura in a media statement. "Not only is she uniquely accomplished, winning grade 1 races at 2, 3, 4, and 5, but her courage exemplifies what we love about thoroughbreds. She is class personified and the best of the best. I hope she can win another Breeders' Cup, as well as the Eclipse award she richly deserves." Lady Eli (Divine Park-Sacre Coeur, by Saint Ballado) boasts the outstanding record of 9 wins (including the Gr1 Diana Stakes, Gr1 Gamely Stakes, Gr1 Flower Bowl Stakes, Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf & Gr1 Belmont Oaks) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf & Gr1 Jenny Wiley Stakes) from 12 starts for US$2,719,800 in earnings. Her record is all the more remarkable given she suffered a potentially career-ending bout of laminitis in July, 2015.
