Lees to Trained Derby Winner

Monday, 7th August 2017

Victoria Derby winner Prized Icon (More Than Ready-Tropical Affair, by Danehill) will continue his racing career under the care of Newcastle-based trainer Kris Lees, reports ANZ Bloodstock News. Previously trained by James Cummings, Prized Icon also won the Gr1 Champagne Stakes as a juvenile and has been Gr1 placed in the Australian Guineas and Spring Champion Stakes. He hasn’t raced since finishing 11th in the Gr3 Grand Prix Stakes in Brisbane in May. “You won’t be seeing him in the spring,” said Lees. “He is having a good break after a long three-year-old preparation. He will come back in the autumn.”
