Shuttler Bahhare Dead

Tuesday, 23rd May 2017

NZ Racing Desk has reported that American-bred stallion Bahhare passed away on Sunday. The son of Woodman enjoyed his best years at Rich Hill Stud before he transferred to The Pines at Rakaia. "He was a lovely horse to deal with," Rich Hill's John Thompson said. "He was New Zealand's champion sire of two-year-olds in the 2003-04 season." A Gr2-winning two-year-old in England, Bahhare's best Southern Hemisphere representatives included Gr1 Captain Cook Stakes winner Hurrah, Gr1 South Australian Oaks winner Dowry, Gr3 Auraria Stakes winner Purde, and Carlisle Bay (Gr3 Sha Tin Trophy). He also sired the Northern Hemisphere stakes winners Katdogawn, Baqah and Jazz Princess. Bahhare was a half-brother to UK Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes & Gr1 St James's Palace Stakes winner Bahri, dam of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winning sire Sakhee and Gr1 Falmouth Stakes winner Alshakr.
