At Doomben racecourse in Brisbane, US Gr1-winning Emirates Park shuttler Artie Schiller (El Prado-Hidden Light, by Majestic Light) added a black-type success when 3YO colt Good Standing (Artie Schiller-Elahi, by Giant's Causeway) proved far too good for his rivals when scoring a dominant win in the $100,000 Listed Queensland Day Stakes (1350m) for 3YOs, defeating Sylpheed & I'm A Rippa. A homebred for Eduardo Cojuangco's Gooree Stud, Good Standing is out of the Giant's Causeway mare Elahi, a daughter of Gr1 Australasian Oaks winner Tempest Morn. Good Standing's record now stands at 3 wins (including the Gr2 Skyline Stakes & Gr3 Caulfield Classic) and 2 placings (including the Gr2 ATC Stan Fox Stakes) from 12 starts for $681,450 earnings. Good Standing will now be aimed at next month's Gr2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm. "He's a classy horse who has been progressing well since the spring," stable spokesman John Keogh told Racing Queensland. "We've got a few options but he'll run in the Fred Best Classic at set weights in two weeks then we'll look at our options."
