Brametot Wins Gr1 French 2,000 Guineas

Monday, 15th May 2017

At Deauville in France, 3YO Irish-bred colt Brametot (Rajsaman-Morning Light, by Law Society) overcame a slow start before flashing late to score by a short head in the €600,000 Gr1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (8 furlongs) for 3YO colts, defeating Le Brivido & Rivet. Brametot, who was recently purchased by Al Shaqab Racing, advanced his imposing record to 5 wins and 1 placing from 6 starts. Trainer Jean-Claude Rouget indicated the colt would now head to the French Derby. "It has been very hard with the virus in the yard but this horse was not in the problem barn, or else he wouldn't be running,” said Rouget. "He has an outstanding pedigree and I think he is a right horse for the Jockey Club."
