Brisbane on Smart Filly's Agenda

Wednesday, 3rd May 2017

Stakes winning 2YO Gold Fever will be on trial for a trip to Queensland when she resumes in the Listed Equine Stakes at Te Rapa on Saturday, reports theinformant.co.nz. "We gave her a break after Ellerslie and since coming back in she's really thrived, so we figured she was worth considering for our Queensland team," said co-trainer Stephen Autridge after watching Gold Fever gallop at Matamata yesterday morning. "She's a tough little thing, a natural two-year-old, so if she runs up to expectations on the weekend there's every chance she'll head across." A winner of 3 of her 6 starts, including the Gr2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes, Gold Fever was last seen finishing third behind Summer Passage in the Gr1 Sistema Stakes in March. By Savabeel out of the Gr2 Karrakatta Plate winner Gold Rocks (Oratorio), Gold Fever is a half-sister to Gold Rush (So You Think) who won the 2016 edition of the Matamata Breeders' Stakes.
