Sacred Elixir Wins Gr1 JJ Atkins Stakes
In one of Eagle Farm's three Gr1s last Saturday, Windsor Park's Gr1 English Derby-winning shuttler Pour Moi (Montjeu-Gwynn, by Darshaan) sired his first Southern Hemisphere stakes winner when NZ-bred 2YO gelding Sacred Elixir (Pour Moi-Baltika, by Stravinsky) scored by a facile 3.5-lengths for trainer Tony Pike in the $600,000 Gr1 JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) for 2YOs, over thje colt Charnley River (Show A Heart-Wabble, by Canadian Silver) & the filly Heart Skipt A Beat (Falvelon-No Time, by Barely A Moment). Living up the stable's expectations prior to the big juvenile feature, Sacred Elixir took his record to 3 wins & a runner-up from 6 starts for $450,453 earnings. Sacred Elixir was a NZ$170,000 purchase by Raffles Racing from the draft of Wentwood Grange at the 2015 NZB National Yearling Sales Series.
