Ghisoni Wins Gr3 Glenlogan Park Stakes

Monday, 30th May 2016

At Doomben in Brisbane, former Champion Australian Sire & 11-time Gr1-winning World Champion Miler Lonhro (Octagonal-Shadea, by Straight Strike) added a Group success when 3YO Godolphin filly Ghisoni (Lonhro-Portillo, by Red Ransom) scored a comfortable 1.3-length win for trainer John O'Shea in the $150,000 Gr3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) for fillies and mares, over 7YO mare Cradle Me (Easy Rocking-Amphycles, by Machiavellian) & 5YO mare Beatniks (Haradasun-Hippy, by King of Kings). A homebred for Darley Stud, Ghisoni improved her record to 4 wins (including the Gr2 Surround Stakes) from 6 starts for $320,775 earnings. Ghisoni is now likely to have her next start in either the Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on 11 June, or the Gr2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) on the same day. Ghisoni is a daughter of beautifully bred mare Portillo, whose wins in the Gr2 Surround Stakes & Gr2 Magic Night Stakes were franked by Gr1 placings in the Golden Slipper and Flight Stakes. Portillo's dam Snowdrift also produced the gifted Gr1 sprinter and sire Snowland and smart stakes horse Snippetson, both by Snippets. This is the immediate family of Vinery's European Champion 2YO and subsequent high-class sire Myboycharlie.
