Impressive South African Winner For Snitzel
Australian bred 2YO Heavenly Blue signalled a bright future awaits when posting an impressive debut win at Vaal in South Africa overnight. Trained by Mike de Kock, the son of high profile Arrowfield stallion Snitzel settled just off the speed before accelerating in the style of a smart horse over the final 200 metres to score a comfortable 3-length win in the Welcome To The Vaal Maiden Plate over 1600m. A lovely looking colt with a striking steel-blue hue, Heavenly Blue was a $200,000 purchase by Form Bloodstock at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of his breeder Arrowfield Stud. Heavenly Blue is the first foal to race from the US-bred mare Simply Carina (El Prado), a daughter of 4-time Gr1 winning mare Astra. This is a prolific stakes producing North American family that also includes Kentucky Oaks winner Cicada, Gr3 winning sire Admiralty, dual Gr3 winner Savannah Slew, and champion colt and successful sire First Landing.
