Gr1 Goal For Sheidel

Friday, 29th April 2016

Meanwhile, co-trainer Tom Dabernig has confirmed that former WA mare Sheidel (Holy Roman Emperor-Laventour, by Metal Storm) will run in the Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on 7 May following her win in last Saturday's Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, reports horseracing.com.au. The Bel Esprit was the 4YOs first stakes victory since arriving in the East and it boosted her already impressive strike rate to 12 wins from 18 starts for over $700,000 in earnings. "I think she's just coming right and, based on her record in Perth, it's clear she can hold her form, too," Dabernig said of the Amarina Farm graduate. "We'll look at sending her to Adelaide now for the Robert Sangster. She's lovely and sound and appears pretty straightforward." Dabernig added: "I think she's now getting near peak fitness... she'll be pretty well spot-on heading to Adelaide in a fortnight's time."
