Kiwi-Bred Mare Wins Second South African Stakes Race

Tuesday, 19th April 2016

At Johannesburg's Turffontein Racecourse over the weekend, 4-time Gr1-winning Windsor Park Stud shuttler & former European Champion 2YO Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer-Starlight Dreams, by Black Tie Affair) added a black-type success when 4YO mare The Centenary (Mastercraftsman-Diamantaire, by Montjeu) won by 0.3-lengths for trainer Mike De Kock in the Listed Spook Express Handicap (2450m). The stoutly-bred The Centenary was a NZ$40,000 yearling consigned by Windsor Park Stud at the 2013 NZB National Yearling Sales Series. Dropping back in grade after contesting the Gr1 Summer Cup & Gr3 Acacia Handicap, The Centenary took her record to 6 wins (also including the Gr3 Yellowwood Handicap at Turffontein over 1800m) & 3 placings from 18 starts for R555,125 earnings.
