Nathra Lays Down Classic Credentials

Wednesday, 13th April 2016

At Newmarket in the UK overnight, Haunui Farm shuttler Iffraaj (Zafonic-Pastorale, by Nureyev) added a Group success when 3YO Irish-bred filly Nathra (Iffraaj-Rada, by Danehill) scored by 1.5 lengths for trainer John Gosden in the Gr3 Nell Gwyn Stakes (7 furlongs) fro 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Squash (Pastoral Pursuits-Super Midge, by Royal Applause) & Robanne (Paco Boy-Arctic Song, by Charnwood Forest). This was the first stakes victory for Nathra who took her record to 3 wins and 1 placing (the Gr1 Fillies' Mile) from 4 starts for £165,858 earnings. Trainer John Gosden said Nathra would head either to the 1000 Guineas in a fortnight or wait for the French equivalent. "She travelled into the race well and we're very happy," Gosden told Racing Post. "It pays a huge compliment to Minding." He added: "This filly is engaged at Newmarket and Deauville and we'll leave those options open."
