Inglis Easter Day-2: $1.1 Million For Snitzel Colt
A syndicate that included James Bester, Gerald Ryan and Damien Flower secured the second top priced lot at yesterday's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney when going to $1.1 million for a bay colt by Arrowfield's high profile stallion Snitzel out of the Octagonal mare Family Breakup (Lot 290). The colt is a half-brother to Gr3 winner and Gr1 placegetter Divorces, as well as stakes winner Disputes. Snitzel was trained by Ryan and owned by Flower during his racing career, and the team are sure to have fun with this powerful colt. "Snitzel seems to cross well with Octagonal mares and I thought this colt was one of the most outstanding Snitzel's in the sale," trainer Gerald Ryan told Sky Racing. Indeed a look at Arion Pedigrees shows that the Snitzel x Octagonal cross boasts a 11% stakes winners to runners ratio, while Octagonal's sire Zabeel also nicks well with Snitzel producing 12 winners from just 20 runners to date.
