Luna Rossa Wins Gr1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes
At Awapuni in New Zealand, Woodside Park stallion Written Tycoon (Iglesia-Party Miss, by Kenmare) celebrated an elite success when 2YO filly Luna Rossa (Written Tycoon-Wild Promises, by More Than Ready) scored a fast-finishing long neck win for trainers Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman in the NZ$225,000 Gr1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) for 2YOs, over 2YO gelding Sicario (Bullbars-Pica Pica, by Stravinsky) & 2YO colt Saracino (Per Incanto-Bella Daniela, by O'Reilly). This was the first stakes victory for Luna Rossa who took her record to 2 wins and 2 placings from 5 starts for NZ$155,900 earnings. "She's a Group One winner by Written Tycoon so she's a very, very valuable filly now," co-trainer Andrew Forsman told NZ Racing Desk. Luna Rossa is raced by her breeders John, Mark and Rachael Carter under their Jomara Bloodstock banner and her victory completed a memorable black type double as they also own Gr3 Manawatu Classic winner Humidor.
