Chrome Ready To Rumble In World Cup
Trainer Art Sherman is delighted with the condition of California Chrome leading into Saturday night's US$10 million Gr1 Dubai World Cup at Meydan, reports Blood Horse. "Either I'm getting smaller or he's getting bigger," Sherman said. "There's been such a big change in him. You wouldn't recognize him now from how he looked as a 3-year-old. He's turned into a great individual." The 2014 US Horse of the Year has looked better than ever winning both his starts this year; firstly when resuming in the Gr2 San Pasqual Stakes at Santa Anita Park on 9 January and then in a 2000 metre handicap at Meydan on 25 February, where the Kentucky Derby & Preakness Stakes winner looked awesome cruising to an effortless 2-length win on his UAE debut. "We thought he'd benefit this year from a race over the track," Sherman noted. "He looked great galloping this morning. It was the right thing to come over early. The race here was a good tightener for him and I was impressed how he did it. I think he'll show us something Saturday." If California Chrome can win on Saturday, he will become the all-time leading money-winner in North American history.
