Capitalist Wins Gr1 Golden Slipper
At Rosehill Gardens in Sydney, Woodside Park stallion Written Tycoon (Iglesia-Party Miss, by Kenmare) celebrated his first elite success when top-class 2YO colt Capitalist (Written Tycoon-Kitalpha, by Fusaichi Pegasus) scored by 0.5-length for trainers Peter & Paul Snowden and jockey Blake Shinn in the $3.5 million Gr1 Golden Slipper (1200m) for 2YOs, over 2YO filly Yankee Rose (All American-Condesaar, by Xaar) & fellow 2YO colt Flying Artie (Artie Schiller-Flying Ruby, by Rubiton). Capitalist took his record to 4 wins (including the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Listed Breeders' Plate & Wong Magic Millions 2YO Classic) and 1 placing (the Gr2 ATC Todman Stakes) from 5 starts for $3,508,700 earnings. "He's a special colt," bloodstock agent James Harron told Sky Racing. "This is the race that shapes the breeding industry in Australia and its a dream come true." He added: "All credit to Peter Snowden. After his last start defeat, he said 'Don't panic, I've got him right where I want him'- he's a master of his craft." Co-trainer Peter Snowden commented: "It's fantastic. He showed right from his very first start that he was special." Capitalist, who hails from the family of Golden Slipper winner Merlene, was purchased for $165,000 by James Harron Bloodstock & Snowden Racing at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Daandine Stud.
