Golden Slipper Call Of The Card This Friday
Sydney's leading bookmakers are expected to hold around $250,000 in bets on Saturday's Gr1 Golden Slipper Stakes at the annual 'Call of the Card' betting function to be held at Randwick Racecourse this Friday, 18th March. The Call of the Card is open to the public and will be held in the Kingston Town Room, Level 4 QE Stand commencing at 3:30pm following the traditional Carbine Club Golden Slipper lunch. ATC Rails bookmakers David Dwyer, Bill Murphy, Grant Palmer, Rob Waterhouse and Warren Woodcock Jnr will take bets from professional and recreational punters alike at the event, offering prices that are traditionally better than those available with other national wagering operators. NSW Bookmakers' Co-operative Chairman, David Dwyer expects the event to attract a number of very large punters who are these days having trouble getting 'set' with the corporate operators. "We have each guaranteed to bet any punter to win at least $20,000 at the odds offered which is a very good bet these days" said David. "In addition, as a group we have agreed to set any owner with a starter in the race to win at least $100,000 on their horse." Small punters will also be well catered for and will receive priority in getting on at the top price offered, before any market change courtesy of money for a horse from the big punters. All are welcome along to this event which is an important prelude to 'Slipper Day' and is sure to establish the market for Saturday's Group 1 event.
